Launching Sapuangin XI Evo 3 "Revving Into The Future"

On June 21, 2024, the ITS Team Sapuangin held a launch event with the theme "Revving Into The Future." This launch aimed to showcase the team's hard work in preparing for the 2024 Shell Eco-Marathon Asia Pacific and Middle East region. There are several changes to this car. First, the livery now features the colors of ITS Team Sapuangin, red and blue, along with the crocodile and shark characters that symbolize the city of Surabaya. The new vehicle body is made of single-layer carbon fiber, which is believed to improve the aerodynamics of the vehicle. Additionally, several parts of the vehicle that were originally made of metal have been replaced with carbon materials. It is hoped that with these updates, the team will be able to win first place again in the 2024 Shell Eco-Marathon race on July 2-6, which will be held at the Mandalika circuit, Lombok, Indonesia.

Representing the ITS Chancellor, ITS Director of Student Affairs Dr. Imam Abadi ST MT expressed his appreciation in his speech and pledged continued support for one of ITS's proud energy-efficient car teams. Imam hopes that the ITS Sapuangin team can maintain its championship in the international event. "Hopefully, the efforts that have been made so far can produce brilliant results that can bring honor to the name of our proud alma mater," he said.

General Manager (GM) of the ITS Sapuangin Team, Rayhan Naufal Hafizh, explained that in this year's SEM event, his team is participating in two competition categories: Off Track and On Track. In the Off Track category, the ITS Sapuangin team has participated in several sub-competitions, namely Data Telemetry, Simulate to Innovate, Carbon Footprint, and Technical Innovation. "This category focuses more on the innovation that will be implemented for the cars that will be taken to the field later," he explained.
